Post year 2000 data is in newReformatted format.

More recent pre 2000 data has been processed and archived by Ann Gronell in the Oceans and Climate subprogram, Ocean Observing Systems (Rick Bailey). Ann returns a copy of the QC'd Franklin data to the Data Centre, and also adds this data to her database which holds the data from the "XBT Contributions" collection. These data are exported regularly to the Bureau of Metrology .

Older data is stored in RV Franklin data format, and was processed by Data Centre or the former Data Products Group staff.

Other pre 2000 data is in Meds Ascii format (usually the file will have the extention .MA) See newGTSPP.pdf for character-by-character input of GTSPP files in MEDS-ASCII format.
