Anthony Richardson
Plankton
University of Queensland
Anthony Richardson’s work is recognised internationally
for significant contributions in the fields of climate
impacts on marine species, plankton dynamics, and linkages
between the environment, plankton and fisheries. Anthony
has diverse research interests in marine ecology, focusing
on understanding the effects of environmental variability
on marine systems as a window to predicting impacts of
climate change. His work has helped elucidate how climate
change has modified biological processes that have changed
plankton communities over ocean basins, increased the occurrence
of harmful algal blooms, and led to impacts on fisheries,
bird breeding, coral reefs, kelp forests and fish assemblages.
He has published peer-reviewed 55 publications, including
four in Science and Nature, and his work on climate impacts
work has been highly cited by the recent IPCC Fourth Assessment
Report.
