Google Earth:
Forecast Sea Surface Temperature anomaly (not updating at present)
Analysis-cycle Sea Surface Temperature anomaly
Animatable from 5 days ago to 6days hence (Needs Google Earth 4.1.7). The anomaly is difference from the CARS seasonal climatology - colourbar is +/-4deg C. Surface velocity streamlines (1 day long, black) appear on zoom-in, then 100m streamlines (blue) on further zoom-in. Magenta arrow heads are surface drifter positions (one day's movement per frame). The 200m isobath is dashed.
Tasman Sea Near-Real-Time Temperature and current velocity(not updating at present)

Each row of links has names of the form OM_ccmm_vvz, each showing a different OceanMAPS2 product compared with satellite and insitu data. The region codes stand for Christmas Island, Timor, NorthWest, Northwest Cape, Leeuwin Current, Great Aust Bight, SE Fishery, East Aust Current, Sydney and Queensland.
cc=cycle: ba=BODAS analysis, an=OFAM analysis, bn=BODAS near-real-time, nr=Near-real time OFAM, fc7d=7-day forecast.
The 4 ensemble members take turns having an assimilation day. Model day 0 is the day when the assimilation happens, so the D0 option shows whichever ensemble member had a data-assimilation cycle that day. For the forecast cycle, dates in the future are the latest forecast. Dates in the past are the zero-leadtime (D0) forecast. No longer plotted: mm=ensemble member (00, 01, 02 or 03) or model day (D0, D1, D2, D3).
vv=variable: t,s,h,v,sp = temp, sal, height, velocity, speed. tp3 = temp and particles (drifting with surface velocity). ta, sa, ha = anomaly of t,s,h
z=depth: eg 5m explicitly or 1 for the surface (loosely defined)
Examples:
1) OM_baD0_NW_ha1 shows the BODAS surface height anomaly analysis for D0 (the only day when BODAS analyses are done) for the NW region of Australia. The super-obbed altimetry supplied to the analysis is also shown.
2) OM_anD0_NW_ha1 shows the ocean model analysis of the surface height anomaly on day 0, ie the model state averaged throughout the day on which assimilation occurs. Stepping through time cycles through the 4 members of the ensemble. The 1Hz (un-super-obbed) altimetry is also shown, but just for +-1d of the map date shown.
3) OM_an00_NW_ha1 shows the ocean model analysis of surface height anomaly for ensemble member 00. Stepping through time shows the model evolving unperturbed by assimilation for 3 steps, then a shock at the point of assimilation. The 1Hz (un-super-obbed) altimetry is also shown, but just for +-1d of the map date shown.
