Australia's Oceans Policy was launched by the Australian Government on 23 December, 1998. This positions Australia as a world leader in implementing integrated oceans planning and management. The policy outlines a planning and management system which responds to the need for national coordination and consistency of policy, while allowing for regional diversity and continued responsibility within the well established industry sectors.
