ArgoRT is the unofficial working title of a software package to extract Australian Argo float messages by ftp from Argos, decode and apply preliminary processing and delivery the profile data to the Argo community.
This software package was created in July-Nov 2006 by CSIRO CMAR and the Australian BoM. Jeff Dunn developed the software under the direction of Ann Gronell, based on a previous system evolved from software written by Susan Wijffels, Ming Feng, Ann Gronell, and others!
The software is intended to run on Unix systems, and uses shell and 'expect' scripts, but the majority of code uses Matlab (version 7.0 or higher.) It runs automatically several times a day, to deliver Argo profiles to the GTS and netCDF files to GDACs within 24 hours of sampling. Trained operator oversight is required to ensure daily operation and to monitor and intervene to optimize data quality.
