The master data set has now been compiled. It was assembled from the Mership datasets (1983-1999), the WOCE QC'd datasets (1990-1995), the World Ocean Atlas Observed level data (1975 to 1998) and the Far Seas Fisheries Data (1985 to 1996).
These data have been extensively dupicate checked and duplicate profiles removed. Parameters have been calculated for the unQC'd version of this data set. They have also been passed through the gradient checking program and are now being checked to remove identifiably "bad" data.
Once this has been completed, new parameters will be calculated and we can begin constructing the hight resolution climatology. Finally, the data will be screened using the statistical screening procedures developed to date. These are still under development and will hopefully be done by the end of October.
Plots of the data, by month, decade and combined can be retrieved below:
The entire file contains 110541 profiles. To see the plots by decade or month, click on the links below. To get a full screen version, click on the plot:
One caution - the data is at varying depth resolution.
It may not always capture thermal structure in the same way thathigher resolution
data would.
